Gen/Ensemble
25 occasions people have celebrated in the Jossverse by Minnow Poignant and funny and echoing . . . yeah, there's a reason this has been recced all over the place.
Access Denied by Amy (PG-13) Authorial Summary: Spike's got a chip. Lilah's got a solution... at a price.
All Tweedy and Sarcastic by Ari (PG-13) The day between "Once More, With Feeling" and "Tabula Rasa." The story follows Tara, but really it's about Willow's brand of magic and where she comes from.
Anywhere But Here by Sarah T (PG) The sumer after "The Gift." Ethan takes Dawn on an adventure.
Back to the Start by Doyle (Spike and Joyce; S4, shortly after "Doomed"; PG) A tender and awkward encounter, well-executed.
Battle, Interrupted by Dani (G) Post-NFA with a St. Crispin's Day speech prompt, for Doyle's drabblethon. Lifts my heart.
Bed of Bones by RozK The First Slayer. Jossed by "Get It Done" (7.15) but oh so powerful.
Birds and the Bees by Brynhild Spikess (PG) The aftermath of S2 "Halloween" for one of the many changed children. (Explanation of which child exactly is in the comments.) Rips my heart out.
Bringing by Twinkledru J. A chilling look at the future for Slayers.
Bunny Bunny Oxen-Free by k (Buffy, Anya; post-Chosen) [non-lj link] This is such a fun read, with a wholly believable way of bring Anya back.
Candles by etothey [non-lj link] Author notes: Angel spoilers through S4, kind of: AU-verse cascading from "Home": If Angel had had a daughter. Among other changes. ~2,000 words. Gen/ensemble (??).
End world peace and you got to make a wish, kind of like blowing out birthday candles. No one ever thought about what happened to the candles.
Curiosity by kcarolj65 (PG-13) Authorial Summary: Angel wants to see the real reason Buffy sends him back to LA (during Chosen).
The Emperor of Ice Cream by Jessica (TV-14 for language) Summary: Giles comforts Buffy with ice cream after graduation. Giles' promise of ice cream is one of my favorite moments in the series.
Family Album Mireille (Connor and Angel gen, rating: FRC, set some time post-NFA [no comics spoilers], 550 words) Connor, thinking about the people he has been and could have been. Very true-feeling.
The Five Games You Play In Heaven by Ari (multiple pairings) Authorial Summary: Five afterlives that might yet be; everyone is surprised.
Five New York Minutes (That Never Were) by nwhepcat (R) Authorial Summary: 1. A reunion. 2. An awakening. 3. Another reunion. 4. A wedding. 5. A honeymoon. Dark and adult (though the wedding is actually relatively light) and very well-done. Just trust me on this, because it spoils the stories some to tell you what they're about before you read them.
Five Ways NFA Probably Didn't End by [tkp] (5 parts, at 2,000+ words each) Authorial Summary: Ensemble, with focus on Angel, Connor, Spike, Buffy, and Dawn. I think the first one is my favorite, though I love Dawn in the second one. They keep getting darker, but I love the very ending of the last one.
Flight Patterns by Eurydice (R) A stunning post-S2 AU. Written for Willa's Fractured Fairytale Ficathon and definitely one of the best entries. Interesting take on the tale in question (which isn't revealed until the end) but primarily a dark and rejuvenating tale of brokenness and growth and ways things could have been with just a touch of the fairy tale. And then at the end it folds back into the canon, though of course things are different because we have had this AU summer.
Four Ghosts by hollimichele (G) [proper feedback address is hollimichele @ gmail.com] Authorial Summary: By the end of your sophomore year of high school, you're pretty sure that Sunnydale High is haunted. This is so lovely.
Fragments Of Lines Written On The Bathroom Walls In Ten Different Fandoms by Amy (100 words each)
Fandom: Grey's Anatomy, Veronica Mars, Battlestar Galactica, Harry Potter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Stargate Atlantis, Roswell, Lost, Angel, and Alias
Both the BtVS and Angel ones are brilliantly in character.
Friends in Common by Tania (PG) Anya and Spike reminisce during "Buffy Vs. Dracula."
The Horror by Laure Alexander (PG) Buffy catches Giles doing something horrible ;)
Identity in Motion by Jennifer-Oksana (written early S5) "Nothing belongs to Eve; she is all-hollow and full of power for her masters."
In Search of Spike by spikeNdru (PG) Authorial Summary: Lydia Chalmers survived the destruction of Council Headquarters. She wants to get on with her life, but she needs a purpose.
I've Seen You Sing by Tania (R) Angel S2-end, through Lorne's eyes. (WIP)
Like Thelma and Louise, Kinda by viciouswishes (G, post-"Innocence," 331 words) [lj link] The title says it all. A lovely vignette.
Loss by avariel_wings (G) Jesse is not forgotten.
Manus by Kita (PG-13) [non-lj link] post-"Damage" (Angel 5.11). Blood and ash. Boys and hands.
Miracle by Redeem147 (G) What did "Amends" look like to everyone else in Sunnydale?
Neighbors by Amy (G) Joyce doesn't want Buffy to end up like her.
Never Fall in Love With the Good Guys by HonorH Lorne and Anya, after both finales. An inability to let go.
No Limits by various (R) A Virtual Season 6 for Angel. (WIP in that the season isn't over yet.)
* Research Can Make You Punchy Season Five-ish, no spoilers. The title pretty much says it all.
Revelations by Lizbeth Marcs (PG) An AU S7 in which Willow's magic blasts in "Grave" (6.22) triggered something in Xander. The story is told from multiple POVs and the reader is drawn along in the mystery. Liz crafts a compelling argument for her premise.
The Ballad of Charles Whitman (Apocalypse Remix) by nwhepcat (R) [lj post and "DVD commentary" found here] This remix is grounded in Xander's POV and is compelling whether you know what's coming (by virtue of having read the original) or not.
Reversal by Prophecy Girl Post-Chosen. What happens to Buffy after that spell they did?
Romantic Comedies by Ari (Tara & Buffy, PG) Authorial Summary: girly movies and lessons learned The summer after S4.
The Signs that We Missed by Hannah A look at Angel episode 2.15, "Reprise," telescoping backwards and forwards, all the way through the finale, looking at so many of the characters and the choices they made. Destiny, Chance, Free Will, three different ways to say the ending writes itself.
Sincerely by Pru (Angel, Cordelia, ensemble; PG; AU set 3 years after the Angel S3 finale, incorporates some canon through S5) A bittersweet story of how the Cordelia arc could have gone after the Angel S3 finale.
So Let Us Melt by Kyra Cullinan (PG) Dawn and Giles. 5 years after "Chosen," the balance of power has shifted.
Strangers When We Meet by Kate Bolin (PG) Authorial Summary: Giles gets a message from an old friend, and must make a painful decision.
Sunsets in Summer by Nihilistbear (PG) A drabble trilogy: At different points in the series, Buffy, Spike, and Dawn think about sunsets.
Terror by Twinkledru J. (PG) Authorial Summary: Tara haunts Giles, and they find that they have things -- and people -- in common.
Theodicy by Jintian (PG-13, Approx. 5,800 words) Authorial Summary: After "Sleep Tight," Wesley finds the way back.
Jintian does a great job of keeping Wesley as part of the gang and showing Cordelia in particular as a strong character and also comes up with a brilliant idea for Quortoth.
Mortal Taste (Theodicy, the Lilah Morgan Remix) by karabair [thoughts on the remix process -- with spoilers for both fics -- here] (R) Authorial Summary: AU after "Sleep Tight"; While Wesley finds his way back, Lilah looks for a way in. This remix focuses more on Angel (who is very much stuck on the outside) and brings in Lilah, which changes some of the events of the original fic in very interesting ways.
Those Whom Moses Forgets by draconin (PG) Not all the Sunnydale cops are as (willfully) oblivious as we see in canon. This is a very believable look at Sunnydale from the perspective of a cop who's learning and trying to help.
Tricky Witches by Twinkledru J. (Anya, Willow; PG) Authorial Summary: Anya gets tricked. (AU)
Truth, like light, is blinding by flurblewig (PG) [personal lj link] An alternative ending to "Conversations With Dead People" in which Buffy brings Holden home with her and does a truth spell to find out what's going on. Very interesting, and in-character, and there's snark and wit to boot.
Untitled by Kita (Angel, post-NFA) "I would like to know what you think your favorite (or most interesting, or newest love, or shiniest, or whatever) character is doing this Xmas/Hannukah/Other." This ficlet focuses on Angel and feels so very true.
Warmth and Oncoming Darkness by debg (PG)
Angel by day. Buffy by night. Two drabbles.
Winners by Insomnitic (PG-13)
Stealing the words of the Crack Van rec: Winners blew me away the first time I read it. Then I read several more times in one sitting. It's a short little story that looks unassuming but the ending sneaks up on you and then grabs you by the throat.
Set in Season 5, there's everything you'd find in the series: the Scoobies are together fighting and quipping, trying to keep Sunnydale from being overrun. Spike's playing both sides against each other. And Buffy's worrying over the implications of being a Slayer. The differences between her and them.
Most important of all, the Slayer always wins.
Working Girl by the Mad Poetess (PG)
Post-"Chosen" Xander. Authorial Summary: Of all the barstools in all the world...
